Budding Leaves Beret
The budding leaves beret has a leaf motif worked into the shape of the beret. The increases and decreases of the leaf shape creates the changes in the width of the hat. It could be worn as a quite snug traditional beret, blocked flat or as a more slouchy rounder hat, depending on size and blocking.
Sizing
Size: Small/Medium, 50-56 cm /19 ½ -22” (Medium/Large, 56-62 cm / 22- 24”) head circumference.
Size small/medium will sit quite snuggly on your head. For a slouchier beret knit size medium/large. Pictured in size small/medium with the green/yellow yarn and size medium/large with the purple yarn.
The green yarn in the pictures is Julia from Gjestal. It is discontinued but Odin from Viking of Norway, the purple yarn in the pictures, is very similar to Julia. I have updated the yarn recommendation to Odin since Julia Gjestal is discontinued.
Block it flat if you want a pronounced beret shape. For a rounder hat you can roll up a towel and fill the hat with it to create a soft round shape.
