This bulky weight cowl works up super fast on large needles and using bulky weight yarn. This is suitable for adventurous beginners and advanced knitters. This would also make for a nice introduction to cables if you have not yet experimented with them (beware they are addictive!!).

Gauge:
15 stitches and 32 rows per 4 inches (10 cm) knit in pattern in the round (although gauge is not terribly important for this pattern)

Finished dimensions: Roughly 7 inches (17.7 cm) high and 26 inches (66 cm) around. This cowl can be easily adjusted for alternate sizes by adding or subtracting multiples of 6 stitches. The cowl can also easily be made taller by adding to the number of rounds repeated. Please note the additional yarn will be required if the cowl size is adjusted upwards.

Materials:

Yarn: Bulky weight yarn (120 grams) (other weights could be substituted - adjust the needle size and number of cast on stitches accordingly)

Needles and Notions:

  • 6mm (US size 10) circular needle or size necessary to achieve gauge
  • Tapestry (darning) needle
  • Cable needle (if desired)
