The Burgundy Garden Cowl uses less than 100g 8 ply sock yarn or wool, so you can raid your stash. A solid, semi-solid or variegated yarn works well and the textural pattern adds warmth and depth.

It is an easy pattern to try knitting in the round and lace knitting. The cowl appears more complicated than it is, being a 2 row stitch pattern needing a multiple of 2 stitches for knitting in the round. This makes it easier to knit a different size in both width and height, to give you choices to match your outfits.

Gauge does not really matter as it is not a fitted garment. By subtracting or adding stitches in multiples of 2, you can have your cowl wider or narrower. Add rows by repeating the 2 row pattern to make yours longer. This is an easy pattern to make for a gift as well as yourself as it knits up quickly.
