Burnished Mittens
This pattern was originally published in Confident Knitting, and is now available in my Ravelry store.
Tidy Vikkel braids and simple colourwork shine in these mittens, showing off the subtle shifts of hand-dyed yarn. Burnished Mittens are the fifth pattern in Confident Knitting.

PATTERN NOTES
The mittens start with a small rolled hem worked in stocking stitch, before the wrist is worked in rib. Two Vikkel braids are worked each side of a band of colourwork. The final Vikkel braid is worked as a two-colour braid in order to set up stitches in the main colour for the remainder of the mitten. The hand of the mitten is worked in 3x1 rib with a thumb gusset. The thumb stitches are left on hold while the remainder of the hand is completed. After shaping the top of the mitten the front and back stitches are joined by grafting or with a three-needle cast off. Finally, the thumb is completed in 3x1 rib with clean shaping at the top.
