ABOUT BUTTERBUN
In the secret wood of Whisperwing Willows, quietly tucked away in a dark thicket, there hides a magical flutter of bunnies called Butterbuns. These tiny, tubby bunnies flaunt butterfly wings in kaleidoscopes of colour for flitting and floating gracefully amid the underbrush. Every autumn, they host the Grand Butterwood Ballet, a spectacular event magically lit by real fairies, where they compose flying sequences beneath the treetops, spiralling, twirling, and cascading like feathery snowflakes. Their shimmering wings catch the fairy-light, casting rainbow reflections on the dew-kissed flowers below. The other animals gather in awe with heads tilted upwards, enchanted by the glittering dance, celebrating the whimsy of nature and the joy of the secret wood.
ABOUT THE PATTERN
This bunny is a relatively easy make, crocheted in pieces and assembled by sewing.
The applique wings are complex and more challenging, therefore, diagrams are provided with the pattern to guide you through. You’ll also get a color-planning chart to help with picking your palette and staying organized.
Although the wings require a multitude of colour changes, you won’t be left with a ton of loose ends to weave in. Instead, the wings have a lining on the back so all the threads can simply be sandwiched inside, leaving you with a grand total of only 1 loose end on the lining to weave in.
Butterbun can be assembled in 1 of 3 different poses: standing, sitting or crouching. The star of the pattern is the orange monarch-butterfly-inspired bunny in a standing pose. Detailed instructions are provided for his assembly, and the pattern includes bonus tips for making his friends in alternate sitting or crouching poses.
The wings can be used for a multitude of purposes, including attaching them to other amigurumi, garments or cushions.
