Butterflies Are Free
Pattern description from Stitch ‘N Bitch Nation: “With all the floral embellishments around, I’d never seen a knitted butterfly, so I invented one. Butterflies fascinated me long before they became part of the current fashion trend, and this was a fun way to combine that interest with my knitting. The loop underneath the butterfly keeps the scarf from slipping out of place while you wear it and requires no sewing - you just pick up stitches from the scarf and bind them back to the scarf after a few rows. Since the butterfly is attached to the loop, it’s always sitting in the right spot, no matter how you adjust the fit. I’ve based the colors of my butterflies on actual species, but of course you’re free to make them whatever color you like.”
