A seaside village, full of colorful cottages and weathered docks. Around each home, fences of whitewashed wood and intricate latticework that call to mind lacy foam rolling upon the shore. A rainbow of hues layered against weathered wooden planks, faded by salt air and ocean breeze into a beautiful patina. By The Sea cowl features a decorative mosaic and slip stitch pattern inspired by those iconic fences found in quaint villages by the sea.

This cowl is worked from the bottom up in the round. The color pattern is created with mosaic and slip stitch knitting, only one color is worked at a time.

This cowl is knit with two strands of fingering weight yarn held double. To prep yarn, wind each skein into a center pull ball or divide and wind each skein into two equal weight balls.

Slip all stitches as if to purl (purlwise) with yarn in back (wyib) unless otherwise stated in pattern. There are several rounds where the stitches are slipped with yarn in front (wyif) for a decorative effect.
