Dieses Tuch ist Teil meines Strick-Workshops “Mosaikmuster”, den ich für das Schwabsburger Wollfest 2016 zusammengestellt habe.

Bisher war das Modell nur exclusiv für meine Workshop-Teilnehmer als Teil der Kursunterlagen verfügbar - ab sofort kann man die Anleitung auch separat kaufen.

Das Tuch hat eine ungewöhnliche Form und lässt sich auch sehr gut als Poncho tragen. Es ist zu Beginn sehr einfach & “meditativ” zu stricken, den Abschluß bildet -als kleine Herausforderung- eine Bordüre im Mosaikmuster mit I-Cord Abschluß. 5 Quasten betonen die interessante Außenkontur der Tuches.

Als Material habe ich Merino Extrafine Silky Soft 120 von Schachenmayr verwendet: ein sehr schönes weiches & seidig glänzendes Garn. Es werden 2 unterschiedliche Farben benötigt etwa 300g (720m) in der Hauptfarbe und 55-60g (132-144m) in einer Kontrastfarbe.

Das Material wird mit einer etwas dickeren Nadelstärke (= 4,5mm) als üblich verstrickt, für die Mosaikmusterbordüre (5mm) und den I-Cord Abschluß (4mm) werden andere Nadelstärken eingesetzt.

Es gibt auch noch eine etwas dickere, winterliche Version des Modells aus Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 85, dafür werden 500g in der Hauptfarbe (Natur) und 100g in der Kontrastfarbe (Hellgrau) benötigt.

Der Name “Byzanz” erinnert mich an eine sehr inspirierende Reise nach Istanbul im September 2015 und die vielen schönen - u.a. byzantinisch geprägten - Eindrücke, die ich dort im Topkapi Palast, Grand Bazaar, in der blauen Moschee und bei einigen tollen Stadtrundgängen dank Catherine aka Ayasuluk hier in Rayelry sammeln konnte!

This shawl is part of my knitting workshop “Mosaic pattern”, I held at the Schwabsburger Wollfest 2016.
Till now this pattern was exclusively available for the participants of my workshop as part of the training material. Now the instruction is also available here on ravelry.

This shawl has an unusual shape and can be worn as a poncho, too. The first part is very easy and knitting is quite “meditative”, the edging -a little more challenging- is a border in Mosaic pattern with an I-Cord edging. The fascinating outline of this shawl is accentuated with 5 tassels.

I chose Merino Extrafine Silky Soft 120 by Schachenmayr for this shawl. A very soft yarn with a silky shimmer. You will need 2 different colours; about 300g (720m) of the main colour and 55-60g (132-144m) of a contrasting colour.

The material will be knitted with a needle size (= 4,5mm) that is a little bigger than usual, for the Mosaic pattern edging (5mm) and the I-Cord edging (4mm) you will need different needle sizes.

You can also use an aran weight yarn for a more “wintery” version: I have used Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 85 in cream (500g) and light grey (100g).

The name “Byzanz” reminds me of a very inspiring trip to Istanbul in September 2015 and the many beautiful impressions, I collected in Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, in the blue Mosque and on some great walks through the city centre. Many of these impressions were of byzantine origin. Thanks to Catherine aka Ayasuluk who showed me around!
