A nice simple cabled hat NOT knitted in the round! Great take along project suitable for beginners. You don’t need to change the needle size nor will you need any double pointed needles at the end because you are working in rows and not in rounds!

Materials: From 128 yards - 220 yards BULKY weight yarn

Note: If you don’t fold the brim and don’t want the pompom - you will get away with one skein of Cascade’s “128 Superwash” (=128 yards) or any other yarn that works up to gauge.

1/03/2016: I have added a second instruction with a k2p2 ribbing. It is practically the same hat but with a different amount of stitches to cast on. You can download both instructions.

Depending on how you make the pompom - it can use up a lot of yarn

You can make this hat on straight or 24” long circular knitting needles.
