Cable Tee
I took advantage of the lovely drape of the alpaca-blend yarn to design a boxy silhouette that showcases the stitch patterns. The unshaped body of the sweater allows the stitch patterns to flow without interruption, while the drape of the fabric keeps the sweater from appearing shapeless. The central pattern of cables and eyelets lightens the fabric for summer without making it transparent. I chose a sweet tea rose color to complement the heart-shaped cables in the central stitch pattern, but I think this sweater would look quite dramatic in deeper jewel tones as well.
The sweater is worked flat, bottom-up, with set-in sleeves. The sleeve band is worked widthwise, and stitches are picked up along one edge to form the sleeve, and along the opposite edge to form the ribbed hem. The pieces are sewn, and stitches are picked up around the neck and worked in the round to form the neckband.
