Quick cabled slouchy hat, ready for Christmas. Used merino lace and kid silk, one strand each, high contrast colours and it worked out a nice muted shade. I’ll play around with other colour combinations. Despite being less than 25g in weight, it’s incredibly warm and so soft.
The merino seems to soften the feel of the mohair. The Austermann Kid Silk is the softest I have used but combined with the merino lace it’s joyous.

The actual finished colour is closest on the modelled shots with our poly head Victoria, she’s very patient and loves hats.

The final pic is my son, who offered to model the hat the ‘best way to show the lace and cables’, my suspicions should have been aroused at the point he offered his assistance lol. Oh well, you can at least see the cables and lace.

Yarn usage for smallest size:
Merino lace 13g
Kid Silk 17g
