"For this shrug, I took inspiration from the tiny bodices worn during the Regency period, particularly Kate Greenaway drawings, the Empress Josephine, and the movie Vanity Fair. I simply knit two three-quarter-length sleeves (decorated with delicate cables) that increase in width to form a small, delicate bodice, the grafted them together with a Kitchener stitch. I used one of my favorite brooches from my grandmother’s jewelry box to fasten the shrug at the bust."

This was one of my “staff projects” when I worked at Interweave Knits as a stylist. Therefore it was knit in one size only, which is size small.

The sleeves are three-quarter length. You can make it larger by increasing the number of stitches on each edge, and across the back. Start 2 sleeves at the same time, and as you knit, you can make adjustments as you go.

There are no schematics. We were not paid for these contributions and they were usually knit hastily at the very last minute!
