I spent a lot of time fishing, foraging, and hunting with my grandfather and great-grandfather when I was a child. The colors of this hat remind me of the deep shadows and lichens under the spruce trees and the brilliant blue skies along the banks of the Cady Brook in Hinsdale, Massachusetts, on those trips. The post stitches give the look of ribbing while holding the brim firm. This hat is worked in joined rounds.
