A big thank you to Turtlepurl for her gorgeous yarn, Striped Turtle Toes! Turtlepurl Yarns are available on Etsy and Artfire. Shown in colourway Rainbow Brite.

Caerwent is named for a village in Wales. In the third century, the town was called Venta Silurum; this ancient market centre is now the best preserved Roman town in Britain.

These socks are asymmetrical and feature a ribbed Strong-style heel and arch shaping. Designed to play nicely with self-striping yarn, they knit up surprisingly fast.

The Aston Project was named in honour of Prof. Mick Aston, a regular member of Channel Four’s Time Team. As I watched episode after episode of Mick wearing all sorts of stripy jumpers, gloves and hats, the concept for the project came to me: sock patterns made just for self-striping yarn!

Caerwent was featured on Time Team in season 16, episode 4: Toga Town

A big thank you to michamade for the German translation!

About sizing: the stitch counts for the three available sizes are 60, 68, 76 sts. The smallest size fits a 7.5-8-inch diameter foot nicely.

Heel note: There will be three knit stitches bordering the heel for both the medium and large sizes. There will be only two knit stitches bordering the heel in the small size only. This is intentional to centre the heel.

Note: Due to the nature of PDF downloads, I cannot offer refunds for purchases. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns before you buy this pattern. Thank you!
