From ‘Knitting Today’s Classics’: “Classic western cowboy gear inspired this colorful striped vest with pointed front edges. Its diamond motif, which repeats across the front in a design reminiscent of southwestern handwoven blankets, adds a dramatic accent to the striped back. A slight gathering at the back is cleverly worked into the knit piece, which is further decorated with an added knit belt. A multicolored rib and western-style silver buttons complete the colorful garment.

Equivalent yarn: medium, worsted-weight wool – colours A, D and E - 190 (190, 270) yds / 174 (174, 247) m, colour B – 190 (270, 270) yds / 174 (247, 247) m and colour C – 380 yds / 347 m for all 3 sizes.

NOTIONS: five 1¼” (3 cm) buttons and a 16”/40.5 cm circular needle , size 3.75 mm / 5 U.S.

NOTE: The pattern is charted and employs both Fair Isle and Intarsia knitting. There are purl stitches used on the front of the work in the Fair Isle portions.
The v-neck edging, armhole edgings and buttonbands are worked in a K1, P1 ribbing by picking-up stitches from the various body pieces.
The belt is buttoned to the back.
