Camp Socks
Camp Socks are the perfect heavyweight socks to keep your feet toasty warm. The ribbed stripes provide a foot-hugging fit and are a great place to show off your minis. This sock is written for DK weight yarn, but would also work well with two strands of fingering weight held double. Try the stripes using two colours, an ombre yarn, a set of beautiful minis, or scraps - the possibilities are endless! Camp Socks are knit from the cuff down with a heel flap and gusset.
Needles
US2 / 2.75 mm circular or double-pointed knitting needles (or size to obtain gauge), darning needle, stitch markers.
Yarn and Yardage
MC (Main colour): The Backcountry Knitter Simple DK 100 g (3.5 oz) / 246 yds (225 m); 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon; DK weight in Turf; 1 skein, 45 (50, 60) g, 110 (123, 148) yds, 100 (112, 135) m.
CC (Contrasting Colours): For the contrasting colours of the sample, we used yarns from The Backcountry Knitter DK Mountain Range Collection, as well as some DK scraps I had in my stash. Each stripe of contrasting colour across both socks uses approximately 5 g,13, yds, 12 m
We’ve used seven different contrasting colours in the sample, though you can use as many or as few as you’d like.
Finished Measurements
Finished foot circumference 6.75 (8, 9.25)” / 17 ( 20, 23) cm to be worn with approximately 0.5” / 1 cm of negative ease. DK weight socks tend to be less stretchy than their fingering weight cousins, so be sure not to make them too tight on your foot.
Model is wearing size Medium with 0.5” / 1 cm of negative ease.
Gauge
26 sts x 20 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in Ribbed Stripes pattern in the round, blocked.
