Canopy
The canopy is the highest part of the forest, formed by the treetops—an arched dome of soft, dappled light, with interwoven colors suspended between sky and earth. This is the inspiration that gave birth to this design.
Just like the canopy, this sweater is built from the top down: the circular yoke comes first, like the crown of a tree, before expanding and flowing into concentric circles. The five color stripes—Kiwi, Pistachio, Lavender, Blue Cherry, and Winter Pine—evoke the different species that make up this green cover, from the tender spring greens to the deep, dark depths of winter pine. The chosen yarn, a 100% pure mulberry silk, is no coincidence. Mulberry is the nourishing tree of the silkworm—the one without which no silk would exist. Knitting with this yarn is a subtle way of weaving a quiet connection with centuries of craftsmanship and nature.

Canopy is an invitation to bring the beauty of the forest onto your shoulders.

- Ribbing: circular needles of 2.75 mm (or 0.5 mm smaller than the size required to achieve the gauge); with a cable length of 80 cm (32 in); and double-pointed needles, if needed, for knitting the sleeves.
ACCESSORIES
- Stitch holder or waste yarn to put the sleeve stitches on hold
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
GAUGE
24 sts x 36 rows = 4 x 4 in. worked in stockinette stitch in the round, after blocking on 3.25 mm needles. Be sure to check the gauge after blocking: silk tends to stretch when washed, which will affect the final size of your sweater.
SIZES XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
Final bust circumference: 76 (84, 91, 99, 107) (117, 127, 140, 150) cm; 30 (33, 36, 39, 42) (46, 50, 55, 59) in.
Suggested ease: +/- 5 cm; 2 inches. Add the suggested ease to your upper bust measurement, then use the result to select the final circumference that most closely matches it.
A schematic is provided in the pattern with more details.
NOTES ON THE CONSTRUCTION –
This sweater is knitted from the top down in the round, with a few short rows at the neck for a better fit. You can adjust the length of the body and sleeves to your liking, while making sure to adjust the amount of yarn needed to complete the sweater.
Several times in the instructions, you’ll be asked to distribute increases. If, for your size, you’re asked to increase “0 stitches,” simply skip to the next step.
NOTES ON COLOR AND COLORS –
You may notice that Silky Way, knitted with 3.25 mm needles, produces a slightly openwork fabric. Note that the blocking step will plump up the stitches, producing a stunning result with unparalleled softness and drape.
The number of rows forming the stripes varies depending on the size you choose. If you prefer a solid-color version, you’ll find the total amount of yarn required in the materials section.
Happy knitting!
