Cap Diamant
by Donna Estin
In my fascination with designing garments from different directions, the body of this drop-shoulder pullover is worked on the bias, diagonally from corner to corner. It requires approaching the design process from a different perspective and slightly changes the way patterns are written. Two-color slip stitch is used to create vertical lines which run diagonally across the body once tilted. The loose-fitting drop shoulder sleeves are worked flat from the bottom up. It accompanies the article, “Designing on a Bias,” in the Spring 2026 issue of Cast On.
