Cape Broyle takes on a new dimension to the traditional circular yoke: it is top down, seamless and one piece, but the body is worked flat! The yoke is cast on with short rows worked before the stranded yoke. At the arm division, stitches are picked up across the front forming a double layer of fabric. The body is worked back and forth with decreases at the end of each row to create the diagonal fronts. A black and white chart is provided to easily create your own colourway. With fun colourwork, a cozy and loose fit to throw on over anything, and a stockinette body that knits up fast, it’s a perfect knit to kick off the cool autumn or spring season.

Yarn
Fingering weight yarn in main colour (A) and eleven contrasting colours (B through L). It is also easily doable in two colours and a black and white chart is provided. Sample uses Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift (100% Shetland wool), 105 metres (115 yards) per 25 grams. If using sample yarn, you will need 8 (9, 11, 13, 15, 18) balls of main colour and approximately 1 ball of each contrast colour (but 2 of colour H for XXL size). Colours:

F: Artichoke

Yoke colourwork gauge
28 sts and 29.5 rounds to 4” / 10cm with 3.25mm (US 3) needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Stockinette gauge (flat)
28 sts and 35 rows to 4” / 10cm with 2.75mm (US 2) needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Needles & Notions

Size A: 2.75mm (US 2) circular needles. You will need TWO 47” circular needles (stockinette body), 24”
circulars (collar) and either DPNs or long circulars for magic loop (sleeves)

Size B: 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles (colourwork yoke)

Note: many knitters nd that they need to use smaller needles for single colour stockinette to achieve the same gauge as the colourwork; you may or may not need smaller size needles than what you use for the colourwork. Be sure to swatch and always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
