The Mediterranean region has a rich nature. For ages the people of this region have been collecting edible plants and using them in various ways. Caper is one of the examples of the Italian use of common plants. It grows here and there in the stone walls. A plant that seems to need neither soil nor water. Huge bunches of caper branches point out of vertical walls in the old towns.

Cappero shawl is inspired by the caper plant. The half-pi shape gives a generous depth to the shawl. The increases are made in the eyelet sections leaving the lace repeats simpler and easy to memorize. Picot edging gives a romantic touch to the shawl.

Gauge
24 sts x 28 rows = 10 cm /4” in Cappero lace after blocking.
