“Then followed the Knave of Hearts, carrying the King’s crown on a crimson velvet cushion; and, last of all this grand procession, came the King and Queen of Hearts” - Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
As the playing cards are painting the roses red, the Queen of Hearts enters the Wonderland story in all her terrible glory. These socks are your own invitation to the Card Party, should you choose to accept it. Beginning with a picot cast-on reminiscent of a joker’s crown, these playful socks are worked top-down. A bit of stranded colorwork along the leg gives a nod to the red card suits, while the intarsia heels each feature one of the black card suits. These socks are not for the faint of heart, but, should you play your cards right, you’re sure to score a winning pair. (NOTE: Previous intarsia experience is recommended for this design.)
