Cardamine Shawl
This Cardamine Shawl is a part of a collection in collaboration with woolandnature; the Origan Shawl and the Sauge Scarf is also a part of this collection.
Like many of my designs, Cardamine Shawl was created to fill a need of mine. This current need was to find soothing comfort and courage in my craft. Making has always been a way that I practice self-care and how I give myself what I need in that moment. This shawl was created to give me comfort; comfort in a familiar and cozy making stitch pattern- garter & brioche. The unique brioche spine represents a backbone of courage to help me move through the personal deep dives I am doing this year.
Cardamine begins with a larger than normal garter tab cast-on to create enough spine stitches for the brioche ‘backbone’ of the shawl. This shawl is knit from the top down, increasing at the edges to create a crescent shape. Additionally increases are made outside of the brioche ‘spine’ to give a slightly different curve shape in the shawl. Cardamine is worked back and forth utilizing soothing garter stitch and cozy one-color brioche. Brioche is continued in the border and finished with a Long-tail Tubular Bind-off. Cardamine is a perfect wooly shawl that will keep you warm in many seasons.
Difficulty Level: Adventurous Beginner. Skills needed are: knowledge of one-color brioche, basic increases and Long-tail Tubular Bind-off.
