Elegant and sophisticated, Carmilla shawl will bring interest and drama to even the simplest outfit. Designed to make the most of the stunning silk yarn, the deep border features beautiful lace motifs embellished with beads and nupps. Although the lace pattern may seem complicated, it is created with basic lace stitches and all the wrong side rows are simply purled. The beads and nupps are optional; the shawl will look great without one or both kinds of embellishments (725 glass seed beads size 8/0 3.1mm).

The shawl is worked from the bottom lace edge and it is formed into a versatile crescent shape with short rows. Throughout the short rows, simple openwork echoes the character of the lace border. Finally, a scattering of beads is included along the top edge for a little additional sparkle.
