Slip over cardies are essential for the warmer months. Carousel, the little sister to Summer Carnival, is reminiscent of ferris wheels, carousels and all things fun and festive. Knit seamlessly from the top down, this lightweight and easy to wear cardigan harks back to the cropped cardies of the 50s. The construction is a slight twist on the traditional raglan cardigan. It features a simple but cute circular lace motif in the brooch position and running down one side of the body. This circular motif evokes images of Catherine wheels and ferris wheels, such distinctly Summer memories.

Construction:
Carousel is a seamless knit worked from the top down. The bodice is constructed using traditional seamless raglan increases. However, initially only the shoulder and back sections are worked. The front sections of the cardigan are picked up later along the edge created by the front raglan shaping. These stitches are worked down with the back to create the garment’s body. A panel of lace is worked down the side of the larger sizes.

Note: the side lace panel is only worked on the larger sizes.

Both charts and instructions are included for the lace sections.

NOTE: Carousel is part of a series of four related patterns available separately or as part of an ebook.

The related pattern Ferris Wheel is a longer line version of this cardie with pockets and additional lace features. The bodice and sleeves are worked slightly differently in each of these patterns to cater for the different fit and ease in the different style of sleeves.

The final two patterns are adult versions of these two patterns; Summer Carnival and Summer Festival.
