Carrés de Noël
100% reversible scarf combining two knitting techniques: MARLISLE with REVERSIBLE COLORWORK
Here is the pattern I imagined for the 2023 Advent Calendar – Biscotte Yarns. Knitted in Bis-Sock and Dolce, it is so soft you won’t want to part with it! To create this pattern, I combined two techniques so the result is an equally beautiful pattern on both sides, with no yarn float on the wrong side.
.
REQUIRED MATERIAL
▪ PatricKnits BIS-SOCK 85% merino sw, 15% nylon; 400 m per 100g skein 1 skein shown in Jasmine color. (A) (Case 5 of the 2023 advent calendar)
▪ Louise Robert DOLCE Collection 100% brushed cashmere; 235m per 50g skein 1 skein shown in Absinthe color (B). (Case 14 of the 2023 advent calendar)
▪ 3.5 mm and 3.25 mm circular needles; US#3 - 80 cm cable; 32” or larger (or sizes required to obtain suggested gauge)
▪ Stitch markers (optional)
GAUGE
20 stitches x 24 rows = 10 cm; 4” in garter stitch with A & B on 3.5 mm needles after blocking.
23 stitches x 28 rows = 10 cm; 4 in. garter stitch with A on 3.25 mm needles after blocking.
FINAL DIMENSIONS
Length 198 cm; 78 in. x Width 13 cm; 5 in.
NOTES: This scarf is knit lengthwise, meaning you’ll be casting on lots of stitches but knitting a few rows. Have no fear if you’ve never experienced the Marlisle or reversible Fairisle technique! I’ll explain how to do it, and you’ll see that it’s fun and, all in all, pretty easy once you understand the principle
