Carry On Fingerless Mitts
Carry On fingerless Mitts are knit in the round using magic loop or 2-circular-needle method. Starting at the cuff, the fully charted mitt can easily be knit using the chart only. Changing needle size will result in a small or large sized mitten. The Carry On Hat can also be knit to complete the set.
Skills Required:
Knitting in the round, increases, picking up stitches, stranded knitting, reading a chart
Size:
Finished circumference of Small: 7 inches (18 cm) or Large: 8 inches (20 cm)
Finished length of Small: 11 inches (28cm) or Large:12 inches (30 cm)
Yarn Requirements:
MC: 130 (150) yards (120 (140) meters) of white sport weight yarn
CC: 130 (150) yards (120 (140) meters) yards of green sport weight yarn
Sample knit in size Small using Imperial Yarn Tracie Too Sport; 100% wool, 395 yards in 113grams; Colors Honeydew (MC) and Natural (CC)
Needle Size:
For Small:
Size US2 (2.75mm) needles
Size US4 (3.5mm) needles
For Large:
Size US3 (3.25mm) needles
Size US5 (3.75mm) needles
Note: Use a 24” (60cm) circular needle if using magic loop method, use 2 16” (40cm) circular needles if using the 2 circular needle method, or use double points to knit mitts in the round.
Gauge:
For Small:
26 sts and 26 rows in stranded color chart on size US4 (3.5mm) needles is 4” (10cm)
Gauge is measured after wet blocking the swatch.
For Large:
24 sts and 24 rows in stranded color chart on size US5 (3.75mm) needles is 4” (10cm)
Gauge is measured after wet blocking the swatch.
