The Cascade Locks Cowl coordinates with the Cascade Locks Tam -- together they are an absolutely darling accessory set! Together or alone, they are great for gift knitting and use only a single skein of worsted weight yarn (210 yards) each! Find the Tam pattern here.

The Cascade Locks Cowl is an easy-to-memorize, slipped-stitch design with a simple shortcut step to work the cable stitches without a cable needle. See the technique here!

Cascade Locks is known as the heart of Columbia Gorge. It’s a charming small town forty miles from Portland, Oregon that provides a most picturesque backdrop for a picnic, a walk along the river, or a weekend getaway. It’s a feast of color, texture and natural beauty. The Columbia Gorge Fiber Festival is held annually in a town not far from here.

Yardage note: The sample was knit with one skein of Malabrigo Rios with a few yards leftover. However, one tester ran short by about two yards (with the same yarn). Since it’s possible that skeins vary a bit in exact yardage, be watchful and bind off a few rows earlier, if needed.
