Description from pattern:
Dream of a desert island where multi-coloured balls of yarn grow on a palm tree, then make the dream come true with this delightful knitted ornament. The island itself is quick to make on large needles, using two strands of yarn together and only oddments of yarn are required for all the pieces. You may think that the balls of yarn are complicated, but it’s all done with a plastic drinking straw!

Yarn requirements: Oddments of light blue, blue, light yellow, yellow, brown, greyish-green, light green, green, white, light turquoise and orange.

Stuffing: Only a small amount is required

Cardboard: For the base of the island

Two cocktail sticks (pointed at each end) and two small beads: For the knitting needles. The bead holes should be large enough to fit on the cocktail sticks.

A plastic drinking straw: 5mm 1/4in in diameter, the type of straw which usually has a ‘bendy’ section.
