The Cat Doodle Sock download includes instructions to knit the socks either top-down OR toe-up, and comes with the three pre-assembled Doodle Charts we used to make the samples (in addition to the 24 individual charts which you can use to mix-and-match any way you like!)

THE CAT DOODLE is inspired by playful paws and cozy catnaps. This design captures the irresistible charm of our favorite feline friends. From chasing yarn to sneaking a peak at the goldfish, each motif is a tribute to their endless antics and heartwarming companionship.

The 24 Cat Charts include cat faces, sitting cats, pouncing cats, cat paws (complete with toe beans), paw prints, yarn, a can of tuna, fish bowl, fish bones, a mouse, a parakeet, a cardboard box, a scratching post, a collar, a food dish, and more!

This is a Doodle Series Pattern, which means it includes micro charts intended to be used as mix-and-match colorwork motifs throughout the project. Use the charts in this pattern, or you can substitute ANY other Doodle charts!

SIZES

Approx. 4, 5.5, 6.5 (8, 9.25, 10.5) in 10, 14, 17 (20, 23.5, 27) cm finished circumference.

Approx. 3.5, 5.5, 7 (8, 9, 10) in 9, 14, 17.5 (20, 22.5, 25) cm finished leg height.

Approx. 4.5, 6, 8.5 (10, 11, 12) in 11.5, 15, 21.5 (22.5, 28, 30.5) cm finished foot length.

YARN

Any sock weight yarn that meets gauge. Doodles are designed to use leftover yarn, yarn advents, or any other small batches of colorways in your stash. Yarn shown is a suggestion from the Designer. Alternative yarns are encouraged.

Sample uses 85% Superwash Merino and 15% Nylon Sock by Fangirl Fibers, 100g 437 yards 400 m. Colors: Smitten Kitten Doodle Kit

Yardage listed in total yards per size in colorwork due to the customizable nature of this pattern. 

150, 300, 350 (400, 450, 550) yards

NEEDLES

US 2/2.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge

One size smaller needle for ribbing (optional)

8 in 20 cm circular needles, DPNs, or Magic Loop (based on preference)

GAUGE

36 sts & 36 rounds per 4 in 10 cm in colorwork

NOTIONS

Stitch markers (one in different color)

Waste yarn

Scissors & tapestry needle

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Special techniques include stranded colorwork in the round, afterthought heel, toe shaping, and grafting.
