Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.

A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!

  • No Code – Full Price = $15.00 CAD
  • PK10 – 10% off = $13.50 CAD
  • PK20 – 20% off = $12.0 CAD
  • PK30 – 30% off = $10.50 CAD

I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.

The Catalonia Crop Top is a cute cropped, fitted tank with an open back, criss-crossed I-cord straps, and shaping around the bust. It is knit bottom up, flat, with some waist/bust increases and decreases to create a fitted shape to suit your body. It is a size inclusive design, written in a format where you will be able to customize your tank to fit your desired measurements. Will include tips and suggestions for modifying and shaping your tank.

Note: this design is intended to have a fair bit of negative ease to provide support for the bust and better for going braless (yay!). My sample had about 22% negative ease for a nice fitted, snug, supportive tank! Testers are welcome to choose a negative ease that suits your fit and style preference, but I don’t recommend going less than about 15% negative ease to ensure enough support and prevent the tank from being stretched all the way around your back once you tie it up.

Sizes offered:
This pattern is designed in a format so that you can customize the measurements to fit your desired size/shape. I will include formulas for calculating necessary stitch counts and increasing/decreasing needed based on your measurements.

Needles recommended:
3.5 mm / US 4 - body
3.25 mm / US 3 - ribbing
(choose a circular cord length or straight needle length that is larger than half of your bust circumference measurement)
may need other size needles to meet gauge

Gauge:
unstretched - 21 sts x 32 rows = 4 inches x 4 inches (stockinette, worked flat, blocked)
stretched - 16 sts x 38 rows = 4 inches x 4 inches (stockinette, worked flat, blocked)
I am providing both unstretched and stretched gauges so that you can get a better idea of how the fabric will change once it is worn and tied up. Stretched gauge is used for most of the calculations. Since the pattern is a customizable format, you will be able to modify instructions based on your exact gauge, so if you are not exactly matching mine it is not an issue.

Yarn recommended:
Any sock weight held double (or DK weight) yarn to match gauge
I used indie dyed yarn from Explorer Knits and Fibers in the colourway Gothic Quarter from her Spain Collection I used the Denali Sock base (2 ply 400 yds / 100 g) held double.

Any standard sock yarn held double, or DK yarn, should work, though I do recommend ensuring you can get a gauge similar to mine in order to get a similar fabric!

Yardage recommended:
Since this is a create your own sizing format, I don’t have an estimate of yardage for every possible size/shaping combination. I used just about 1 full skein of Denali Sock for my sample. I have a 35” bust and my top has about 22% negative ease.

For rough yardage estimate purposes, I have calculated approximate yardages for a range of sizes to give you a ballpark idea. Note that these are very rough estimates, as your actual top will vary depending on the sizing and shaping that you choose for your customized top!

I can help you figure out a more accurate yardage estimate if you wish prior to purchasing the pattern, but I would say the range is about 1-3 skeins of approx. 400yds/100g sock weight or DK weight yarn depending on your bust size and desired length.
