These bootees match the rest of the Cataria Christening set, but also work on their own. They are based on garter stitch and are very stretchy.

The leg is worked first, and the foot is then picked up from the long edge of the lace. The top of the foot is worked next, and then stitches are picked up round the top of the foot for the side of the foot. The sole is then formed by decreasing at the toe and heel.
