Why this shawl was worthy of a glow-up, and what the glow-up brings:
-
The mermaid theme takes you on a knitting trip under the sea that produces a beautiful shawl.
-
The mix of texture and simple lace lets you enjoy different aspects of knitting while being straightforward enough for chatting or watching tv as you knit.
-
Be inspired by the variety of shawls that knitters have already made using this pattern. There are examples in gorgeous tonal, variegated, speckled, and gradient yarn to spark your creativity and assure you that your shawl will come out well.
-
The pattern includes closeups of each stitch pattern and stitch counts every time there is a change, so you’ll always know you’re on track.
-
The pattern includes charts as well as fully written-out instructions.
-
Tips and links are provided for helpful techniques such as fixing a dropped edge stitch, placing “lifelines” to back you up in case you make a mistake, and more.
Dimensions/shape
The shawl is a bias triangle, sometimes referred to as kite shape. It starts with just a few stitches and has increases along one edge of the triangle and decreases along the other edge to create the shape.
Approximate dimensions -
Long sides: 60”/150 cm; wavy end: 38”/95 cm; drop: 21”/52.5 cm.
Yarn: Approximately 125 grams/550 yards/500 meters fingering weight yarn. A 100% wool yarn was used for the sample; other wool or wool-blend yarns, as well as blends of linen, cotton, and bamboo, will also work well.
Needles and notions: US 6/4.0 mm and US 8/5.0 mm or size to obtain gauge plus two (US) sizes larger; 8 stitch markers.
