Socks are worked in the round from the top down. The cuff is folded in half to form the picot edge and sts from the cast-on edge are knitted with sts on next row to create a cuff hem. A slip stitch pattern is worked on the leg, and the foot is worked in stocking stitch. To avoid a sudden break in the colour variation pattern across the top of the foot when you work the heel, wind off about 40m of yarn before you start. Use this yarn to work the heel flaps and heel turns, then break off this yarn and continue with the original yarn to work the gussets and remainder of foot.
