These are simply lovely to knit and also to wear. They offer a snug, secure feel without being over tight, because they are based on a rib pattern. This pattern is a version of the design I used for the Cave Pearls Scarf, which you can buy in my Ravelry store too, but for the mitts, because they are knitted in the round, I re-configured the design to allow for that.

The pattern includes beaded and un-beaded options in the same download. I knitted these in Rowan Pure Wool 4 Ply, which aside from being economical and washable, yields a very crisp stitch definition and a firm fabric. One ball makes one pair.

I would estimate that an average-fast knitter would complete a pair of these in a weekend if they made an effort, or a week of evening knitting – they’re fast.

I rate them as intermediate.

You will need:

1 ball of Rowan Pure Wool 4 Ply
approx 120 beads, size 6
a set of 3.00 mm DPNs (or whatever you prefer to knit with in the round)
Skills used:

conventional casting on
casting off in rib
placing beads (easy and fully described)
knitting in the round
