Ceilte (Irish for ‘hidden’, pronounced ‘kel-teh’ or ‘kel-tche’ depending on dialect) is a cowl featuring a cable panel at the front, and garter stitch with short rows to the back. Inspired by the legends of Tír na nÓg and Hy Breasil, Ceilte uses cable motifs influenced by the description of these mythical places The pattern makes a generous sized cowl, with more coverage across the wearer’s front.

Stolen Stitches ‘Deas’ (86% Merino Wool, 14% Mohair; 202 yds / 185 m per 3.6 oz / 100 g); colour: Nightfall or Heath 2 (3) skeins.
Approx. Yarn Used: 382 (465) yds / 350 (425) m.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US size 8 / 5 mm circular needle, 24”/ 60 cm long.
Always use a needle size that gives you the gauge listed, as every knitter’s gauge is unique.
Removable markers, tapestry needle, cable needle, spare needle (gauge size or one size smaller), stitch holder or scrap yarn.
GAUGE
16 sts and 24 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in reverse St St worked flat, after blocking.
17 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Garter Stitch, worked flat, after blocking.
Cable panel measures 14” / 35.5 cm across, after blocking.
