This modern rectangular wrap has beautiful Celtic-inspired fair isle of birds and Celtic knot detail and a lovely moss (seed) stitch border around the entire wrap.

Fair isle should be worked in stranded method and long floats of more than 3 sts should be ‘caught’ to avoid large loops on the back side (WS). The pattern includes charts for the fair isle sections of the wrap.

The wrap is knitted flat with 3mm (2.5US) needles in stockinette (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) except for the moss (seed) stitch borders. It is worked as two identical pieces from the right and left far ends to the centre. To finish, the two pieces are grafted together using Kitchener Stitch to create a seamless join. Other joining methods can be used however Kitchener Stitch is recommended as this will create a seamless join.

The blocked measurements of the shawl are width 16” (40.5cm) by length 66” (167.5cm).

The wrap is knit with fingering weight yarn, 4 skeins of Mechita, Malabrigo (100% merino wool, fingering weight), 100 grams/420 yards (384 meters) in:
- 2 skeins (768m (840 yards) total) of Polar Morn 883
(MC – Main Colour)
- 1.5 skeins (576m (630 yards) total) of Sheri 09
(CC – Contrast Colour)

There are endless potential great colour combinations in this beautiful yarn!

Hope you enjoy the pattern! Happy knitting!
