Thinking Christmas? This is a fast and easy project and will keep the wearer’s head, neck and ears protected on the coldest winter days!

This project is worked in one piece starting below the right ear and goes up and over the head and down the left side. There is one seam up the back. The front edge naturally curls in to form a frame around the wearer’s face and can be stitched to accommodate an i-cord drawstring. The hood pictured in blue has eight repeats and a 50 inch drawstring with tassles. This length cord hangs about to the waist but can, of course, be made shorter as desired.
A chart is included as well as written instructions for the cables. Both old and new terms for cable stitches are provided, ie C4B and 2/2LC. There are just six different cable movements worked over three or four stitches at a time. Don’t be intimidated!
I’ve even included how much tail yarn you’ll need for long-tail casting on!
Also, Instructions are provided for how to attach the hood to an existing jacket or cardigan.

Skills needed: Knit, Purl, using a cable tool, sewing a seam. I-cord construction optional.

Materials:
Size 10.5 US needles - or size to obtain 7 stitches per 2 inches; 14” straights or 24”+ circular
Just about any Level 5 Chunky weight yarn will work
Cable tool
2 size 8 or 9 dpns for i-cord drawstring (optional)
tapestry needle for sewing back seam
