The Champagne and Silk Wrap is a graceful accessory which brings together the elements associated with an evening of celebration. It was originally published in the Evening Elegance collection of Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts.
Inspiration for the design comes from the glitter of crystal stemware, bubbles rising in cold champagne, the soft whisper of luxurious silk as it moves over the body, and the sparkle of precious jewels against bare skin. Lace, cables and twisted stitches are used to create a sumptuous fabric.
In the wrap Body, long lines of twisted and crossing stitches travel between motifs that represent crystal champagne glasses. Vertical eyelet columns depict the faceted stem of a glass while outward-moving cables define the shape of the glass.
Lace eyelet columns depict streams of bubbles rising upwards in champagne.
The Border has two Jewel sections and one Silk section. In the Jewel section, slightly-raised geometric motifs on a background of twisted rib represent the glittering jewels in a choker necklace. In the Silk section, wavy lines of tiny cables depict the flirty swish and bounce of ruffles at the hemline of a silk dress.
This design has an appeal that is both classic and contemporary; it is timeless in its elegance.
Hope you love it as much as I loved designing it!
