Chapter by Chapter Cap
The Chapter by Chapter Cap begins at the garter-stitch brim, progresses through a section of the mosaic colorwork, then finishes with a simple eyelet lace crown. Just like a favorite book that has you zooming through the chapters, this hat progresses quickly enough through each section that you’ll hate having to put it down & may keep you up past your bedtime just to see how it ends.
Of all the patterns in the Tales of Childhood Collection, this cap is the easiest to make, but still has a bit of interest thanks to some of the lesser known stitches. (The Fables Fingerless Mitts are the trickiest while the Story Hour Shawl lands somewhere in the middle.) I’ve linked photo tutorials in the pattern’s Stitch Guide to help you out.
I would love to see your project & yarn plans! Use #TalesofChildhoodCollection or @yumiyarns on social media so I can find it or stop by the Ravelry group & join in the discussion.

Notes:
I’ve provided different gauges for the different stitch patterns. Depending on your knitting style, you may need to go up to a US 8 (5.0 mm) for the mosaic section. You will be happier with your fabric if you swatch a bit first for this pattern & learn the technique.
Pattern is both written and charted.
This pattern has been tech edited.
