I spun, dyed and knit this wayyyy back in the 80’s. At the time I’d been knitting a lot of Icelandic type sweaters, and I had all these little bits of color and this beautiful natural black fleece. So I thought ‘why not do an Icelandic with all-over patterning?’ I used up lots of odds & ends, won a sweepstakes ribbon at the Fair & then got so excited I went & opened a spinning, weaving & knitting shop, but that was a lifetime ago…
This was featured in Spin-Off Magazine Winter 1992, along with the pattern for a skirt I spun & knit to go with it. It was alot of fun to design & make and it was a thrill to have it in a magazine…
Charlie is the name of the natural Black Corriedale Ram who provided most of the fleece for this project (seen in bottom photo- gotta love the chickens).
