This hat was knitted by Cassandra Harada for Blacker Swan. We were thrilled when Cassandra offered to let us share her pattern on our website. Enjoy!

To Fit:

This hat will fit most sized heads, but if a size adjustment is required, please accomplish this by using a larger gauge.

Yarn:

Blacker Swan (4-ply; 100% Falkland Islands Merino Wool; 175 m / 190 yds per 50g)
Main Colour: Sheep’s Sorrel (oxblood); 1 ball
CC: Dusty Miller (white); 1 ball

Gauge:

26 sts x 30 rows = 10 cm / 4” over stocking stitch worked in the round

Needles:

3 mm (US 2.5) – 40 cm / 16” circular knitting needle
3 mm (US 2.5) – double pointed needles

Always use a needle which results in the correct size after blocking.

Notions:

stitch marker, darning needle

Notes:

This hat is knitted in the round with stranded colourwork throughout. This pattern uses the Italian cast on method but would still work using another method.
