Checkmate Hooded Scarf
It’s a hood! It’s a scarf! It’s a head cozy!
An elongated checkerboard design enhances this scarf and hood. Knitted in one piece, it’s long enough to wrap around the neck and hang down gracefully in front or back.
It’s an easy intermediate pattern: if you can knit and purl, you can make this scarf and hood!
For the sample shown, I used Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, color: Royal Wedding, April 2011. Each skein has 225 yards. I only needed about half of the third skein, so, around 575 yards, but just to be safe, I am including the full yardage of all three skeins in “materials needed.”
Materials needed:
675 yards of worsted weight yarn
#7 needles, or size to get gauge
Stitch markers (safety pin style)
Finished Size: approximately 7 inches wide by 86 inches long. The hood is 10 inches wide at its widest part.
