ABOUT CHEWY
Once upon a time, a magical chocolate factory owner created a hybrid creature that was a mixture of a dragon and a gumball machine. The chocolatier crafted each scale and claw from molten sugar, plus a drop of peppermint oil for sweet breath. He gave Chewy an enchanted core to produce gumballs from everything he eats.

Feed Chewy the Dragon anything and gumballs will appear in his belly. To get a gumball from Chewy, all you have to do is turn the key in his side. Chewy loves to share gumballs with everyone.

Being a magical dragon, the gumballs are of course magical too. Chewing them produces hilarious and unpredictable side effects – none of which can be mentioned here; you will have to try them for yourself and see!

ABOUT THE PATTERN
Chewy the Dragon is a relatively simple model with a fun twist, being that he is a hybrid of a gumball machine, with a gumball container for a belly, and a key in his side.

His head is poseable, so it can turn from side to side.

This pattern uses double strands of weight 4 yarn for most of the pieces, to make the crocheting relatively fast in comparison to the size of the finished model. The pattern contains tips on how to use single strands instead, if you’d prefer.

The dragon fits a 100 mm fillable bauble in its belly as a gumball holder. The pattern contains directions on how to make adjustments for a different sized bauble. Alternatively, crochet a bauble following the directions provided in the pattern.

PATTERN INFO
YARN WEIGHT: The pattern is designed using aran weight yarn (weight 4 yarn). You can use any weight of yarn that you prefer for this project and pair it with any hook you prefer, however, you might need a different sized bauble. Crocheting must be tight enough to produce a firm model. Directions are provided in the pattern for checking bauble fit.
