1 pr 3mm (US 2) needles and 1 pr 3¼mm (US 3) needles, stitch holder. 50g each of 2 colours of 4-ply wool.

Measurements
Hat: all round head unstretched about 38cm (15in). Depth about 16.5cm (6½in).
Mitts: overall length about 22.5cm (9in). Width across hands above the thumb 8cm (3¼in).

Tension
On 3¼mm (US 3) needles approx 17sts and 19 rows to 5cm (2in).

Special Instructions
For the Fair Isle the wool should be woven in at the back and not carried along for more than 2 or 3 stitches or it will pull.
