Christmas Stockings #2
This intarsia snowflake pattern has been worked in 3 different variations. Easy to knit, follow along chart helps you through the patterning. I love using unconventional holiday colors mingled with the more traditional red and green ☺ The main yarn is Brown Sheep Lamb’s pride bulky. I had Louisa Harding Sari Ribbon in my stash for accent coloring, but any varigated or novelty yarn will do. One full skein of Louisa Harding accented 5 different stockings in my group.
One of my first knitting projects as a young knitter in the 1980s was to knit up personalized Christmas stockings for my family. Marriages and births required another stocking, while a divorce demanded I retire or frog the ex’s.
I developed this pattern using our old ones as inspiration. I reworked color stories, and utilized a traditional, top down sock pattern. I removed the personalized knit in names, and replaced them with manila tags that could be personalized ad hoc depending on who we are hosting for the holiday season. We’ve made a game of allowing the youngest in attendance to pick their stocking first, working our way up to the eldest, but this is definitely not required ☺
