PATTERN INFORMATION
Stockinette and garter stitch plus some bobbles and a bit of Christmas magic and you will have a cute Christmas
sweater for your little (or bigger) one.
Christmas Tree Sweater is worked seamlessly and top down. The tree motif can be worked with or without bobbles - you can replace them with craft pom-poms which are sewn on at the end. The tree motif is presented as a chart only, without written instructions.
Sizes
2 (4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14) years
Finished chest circumference:
61.5 (66.5, 71.5, 76.5, 80, 85, 90) cm/24.75 (26.75, 28.75, 30.75, 32, 34, 36) in
Shown in size 6 years, intended to be worn with 8-10 cm/3-4 in of positive ease.
Gauge (blocked)
Stockinette stitch: 24 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm/4 in, with larger needle
Garter stitch: 24 sts and 36 rows = 10 cm/4 in, with larger needle
1x1 rib: 26 sts and 38 rows = 10 cm/4 in, with smaller needle
Yarn
Main yarn: 470 (590, 670, 770, 880, 990, 1090) metres/515 (650, 730, 840, 960, 1090, 1190) yards of fingering or sport weight yarn that gives you the correct gauge. Shown in Drops Baby Merino (100% merino wool, 175 m/191 yds per 50 g, col. Vibrant Green).
For knit bobbles: contrast colour fingering or sport yarn in colours of your choice, approx. 1 metre/1 yard for each bobble, for a total of 22 (22, 28, 28, 28, 42, 42) bobbles.
Needles and Notions
3.5 mm and 3.25 mm (US #4 and #3) circular needles, 60-80 cm/24-32 in long, depending on size of sweater
3.5 mm and 3.25 mm (US #4 and #3) needles in your preferred style for knitting small circumferences
The remaining items are only needed if you replace bobbles with craft pom-poms:
22 (22, 28, 28, 28, 42, 42) small craft pom-poms (11-15 mm) plus a few spare
Sewing thread in the colour of your yarn
