Original instructions call for size 100 crochet thread and “Stahlstricknadeln Nr. 3/0”, a size of fine steel knitting needle between 1.25 and 1.5mm, for a finished size 50 cm in diameter.

Cast on 8 stitches and repeat the chart 8 times for rounds 1-64, 16 times for rounds 66-158, and 48 times per round for rounds 160-190.

Rounds 13-16 are purled using either doubled or heavier thread.
