Chunky Cable Scarf
This is a lovely thick, textured scarf with large cables. The patterning only occurs every twelfth row making it an easy pattern to knit. The cables are reversible but the geometric effect achieved differs front and back.
YouTube videos are supplied for cast on and bind off.
Materials:
Drops Andes Mix 65% wool, 35% alpaca (100g/ 96m; 3.5 oz/105 yds), in Colour 3410; 4 skeins
9 mm circular needles (US 13) 23 cm long
8 mm needles (US 11) for cast on and bind off. Straight needles for the Italian cast on are best but as the scarf is quite bulky you could use circular needles for knitting and to make it easier to transfer stitches for the sewn bind off.
Tapestry needle
Cable needle or large double pointed needle (DPN)
Gauge:
10 stitches and 14 rows to 10 cm (4 inches) on 9 mm needles measured in stocking stitch before blocking.
Finished Measurements: 18 cm (7 inches) wide and 160 cm (64 inches) long after blocking. I worked the pattern repeat eight times to achieve this length.
This pattern has been tech edited and test knitted to ensure a pleasant knitting experience.
