This design features two pockets, but it is your choice to add the pockets or not. If you don’t want to add pockets, the 80” scarf length is perfect to wrap around your neck multiple times! Even with the pockets, the scarf is long enough to wrap around your neck at least one time and still be able to use the pockets to warm your hands.

If you want a shorter scarf, without pockets, you can bind off at whatever length you choose. The two 6” deep pockets that were added for this design will reduce the total length of the scarf by about 12 inches, so you will need to take this into consideration when calculating the finished length you want! I added two buttons and loops not only as a design element but to keep a cell phone or ID safe and sound in the pocket! If you want to just add one or two buttons as a design “pop” and not make the button loops, that’s OK too. Play with the pocket design and make it your own.
