Cidney Hat
Cables and slipped stitches create a delicate, sophisticated aesthetic in this Cidney hat. The band is knit flat, seamed, then stitches are picked up from the top edge. The top portion of the hat is knit in the round. Your hat will look beautiful as is or with added embellishments.
Materials
Yarn: The Alpaca Yarn Company, Classic Alpaca
Color- 2000 California Claret– 2 skeins
Needles: One 16” circular needle in size US 6 - 4.0 mm, One set double-pointed needles in size US 6 - 4.0 mm
Other: Tapestry needle, cable needle, stitch marker, silk ribbon (optional)
Gauge
6 stitches and 10 rnds per inch in stitch pattern.
Note- the stitch pattern for the crown condenses the rows per inch. The gauge for cabled band and stitch patterned crown will be slightly different. The gauge calculations should be based on the crown stitch pattern.
Size
19” circumference (after blocking, un-stretched, comfortably fits head sizes 19-22”); 9” long. Some size customization can be considered when knitting the cabled band. Knit a slightly shorter or longer band to match the circumference of the head subtracting 1-2” of negative ease.
